Media Arts Council

The Media Arts Council works to further its mission to actively support local artists and integrate a wide range of arts into the life of the entire community of Media, PA. M.A.C. seeks to: support artists by increasing opportunities to exhibit or perform their work in Media, create opportunities to communicate information about art happenings throughout the area, contribute to community arts events that appeal to all members of the community.

  Media Business Authority

The mission of the Media Business Authority is to encourage economic growth, improve positive visual impact, sustain and nurture business development, and help increase Media business patronage through activities and programs that enhance the community quality of life, while maintaining an open line of communication with business owners, citizens, and local government.

  America's First Fair Trade Town

We are a group of hard-working, dedicated, pastors, professors, students, local business people, film makers, merchants, and residents, who have an interest in furthering the goals of Fair Trade and in making Media a model Fair Trade Town. We started in 2005 with just a few individuals and have grown now to about two dozen members. We welcome new members and always need more hands, minds, and good humor!

Recreation Board

The Recreation Board oversees numerous activities for adults, seniors and children. The Recreation Board is responsible for outfitting, operating, and maintaining recreation programs and places in the Borough of Media.

  Media Fire Company

The Media Fire & Hook & Ladder Co., No. 1 was formed in 1891 by a citizens concerned about the lack of an organized group to respond to fires in the town and continues to provide fire protection to Media Borough, a ¾-square-mile town consisting of residential properties, a commercial district and governmental buildings. It also provides emergency medical services to Media and Rose Valley Boroughs, Upper Providence Township and part of Nether Providence Township.

  Media-Upper Providence Free Library

The Media-Upper Providence Free Library is a private nonprofit organization providing a variety of materials and services for the public’s informational, educational, cultural, and recreational needs. The Media Library Association was organized by the Woman’s Club of Media in 1901.The Library became a member of the Delaware County Library System in 1981.

Media Farmers Market

The Media Farmers Market is a producer-only market, with no third party selling, emphasizing farm-produced goods from local growers. Local Media businesses and performing artists will be featured regularly. Media Farmers Market has been organized by a dedicated group of volunteers who live in and around Media, and the Market will be a registered 501(c)3 non-profit. Media Farmers Market will be held every Thursday from 3 PM to 7 PM, May 12th through November 17.

  Media Fellowship House

This downtown Media Victorian is the home to The Media Fellowship House, an organization formed in 1944, after two African American women and a baby were not served at a restaurant in town. Two white women who witnessed the discrimination took them to a different restaurant where they all were served. Media Fellowship House was born that day and continues to promote fellowship and understanding between diverse cultures and generations.

The Media Youth Center (MYC) offers a wide array of recreational and educational programs for youth in addition to partnership opportunities with the community. We provide a safe environment for youth to expand their minds, grow their bodies and have fun. N.A.A.C.P.

The NAACP is the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. From the ballot box to the classroom, the thousands of dedicated workers, organizers, leaders and members who make up the NAACP continue to fight for social justice for all Americans. The Media Area Branch NAACP was established in the early 1920's in response to a series of unfortunate incidents that occurred in the Borough.

  Media Historical Society

The Media Historical Society is a group of volunteers dedicated to the preservantion of the Minshall House located at Providence Road and Front Street in the Borough of Media. It is the goal of MHS to raise our community's awareness of the importance of Media's historic past and to acknowledge those that endeavor to maintain and preserve the beauty of the old structures as they existed decades ago.

  Transition Town Media

The mission of Transition Town Media is to inspire, encourage, network, support and train each other as we consider, adapt and implement the Transition Model in order to establish a Transition Initiative for the community of Greater Media, PA. At the most fundamental level, TTM subscribes to the principles of The Earth Charter and the UN Charter on Human Rights.

2011's "Celebrate Media" entertainment showcase was held at the Media Theatre November 9-11, 2011. Click here to launch the event poster which has all the details. All proceeds from the "Celebrate Media" events were donated to the non-profit organizations in Media which enrich the community through their volunteerism and spirit. "Share the Love"

  • Wed. November 9 - coEXISTdance Company: An innovative modern dance collective whose movements connect the “real” and “artistic” worlds in ways never before imagined. The show began at 7:30 PM, with a ticket price of $10. Free admission for children (12 and under).   Click here for more info!
  • Thurs. November 10 - Upper Darby Sousa Band: An unforgettable patriotic concert experience under the direction of Thomas J. Hoey. There were two performances, at 5pm and 7:30pm.  Click here for more info!
  • Fri. November 11 - Blackthorn: Irish rock band Blackthorn has been winning over live audiences in the Philadelphia region for over 20 years with their contemporary take on traditional Irish and original songs. The McHugh School of Irish Dance also performed before the show and during intermission. The evening starts at 7:30pm.  Click here for more info!

The 2011 “Celebrate Media” events were organized by the Celebrate Media Committee, comprised of volunteers from twelve Media, PA non-profit organizations. The committee partnered with the Media Theatre, Delaware County’s only professional music theatre.
