Humongous Fall Book Sale Oct. 19 – 21 New “Book Marked in Media” Twist
With three floors of books, magazines, DVD, games and collectibles, the Fall Book Sale is back at Media-Upper Providence Free Library October 19 – 21. One of the biggest book sales of its kind on the East Coast, the sale runs 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday and 9:30 am to 6 pm on Monday. This year’s sale promises to be even bigger and better with over 30,000 books and thousands of additional items for sale, spread across three floors of the Library. And there’s a special bonus this year; shoppers can take their receipt to seven different businesses in Media to receive a gift through the new Book Marked in Media program.
Sale items include hardback, paperback, and coffee table books, audiobooks, magazines, DVDs, CDs, vinyl records, puzzles, games, sheet music, and vintage & ephemera things. The sale items are donated throughout the year by residents in and around Media and Upper Providence.
Over 100 volunteers and staff work around the clock to sort and organize the books starting months beforehand and sell items during the sale. “The sale is renowned because of the amazing volunteers and staff who love our library and work tirelessly each and every day. They are the most dedicated group of people I've ever been privileged to be associated with," said Library Board Trustee Charlene Chapman who has been involved with the annual book sale for the past seven years. Most items are priced between $1-$2 on Saturday and are half price on Sunday. Monday is $5 bag day. All proceeds benefit the Media-Upper Providence Free Library.
